What To Bring Planting
Money
There will be no pay for the first two weeks of planting, so planters are advised to bring money for their food and hotel room on days off during that time.
Required Planting Gear
All planting equipment, including boots, can be picked up in Prince George. If you are able to find some quality second hand gear, get it. Each planter MUST have the following for the first day of planting:
- 1 set of three pouch planting bags with shoulder strap
- 1 planting shovel: D handle w/ long blade (any blade less than 22cm long will not be allowed)
- 3 silva cool inserts
- 1 planting tarp (6' x 9' silva cool)
- 1 planting plotting cord
- hi-vis reflective straps for planting bags
- sturdy boots with a good shank and toe -- most important investment you will make... get a good pair
- large 4 to 6 litre water jug
- a day pack for lunch and rain gear, etc.
Clothing
- rubber boots or something durable besides runners and planting boots
- rain gear (jacket and pants)
- warm jacket
- 3 or 4 pairs of pants (army pants, MEC or something that dries fast)
- 9 T - shirts
- 2 to 4 sweatshirts or fleece for layering
- lots of socks (cotton and wool) to get you through until laundry on days off
- old ski gloves: for those days of unexpected snow
Camping Gear and Comforts
- toilet paper (is NOT provided at camp)
- 2-3 towels
- sleeping bag and pillow
- soap and handcream
- extra blankets
- watch and alarm
- air mattress -- NO big foamies
- bug dope (Watkins lotion is good)
- large 16 oz. plastic drinking glass for meals (is NOT provided at camp)
- a good tent: 4 man tent, rain tarp, ground sheet
- tupperware for your lunch
- personal rope, pocket knife, flashlight
- large zip-lock bags for toilet paper (it's a dry luxury when it rains)
- waterproof laundry bag, use soft luggage: hockey bags
- extra set of rain gear: in case of extended days of rain
